1 – go online!
Do you have a Linkedin account? Are you present on Twitter? Are you in Google? Make sure you have your online and social accounts reserved and activated. Let your prospect find you.
2 – set goals
What do you want to achieve? How many people do you want to contact today?
Today I want to approach 15 people and I want to have a conversation with 5 people of these 15 people. This can be a conversation via Linkedin messaging, via Whatsapp and, of course, via telephone.
3 – Listen
When you know which people you want to reach, listen to it first. Visit the profiles on Linkedin, Twitter and Google your contacts. When you know what concerns them, you can use this in your conversation.
4 – connect
Make a report, or connect. Know what your contacptersoon is sensitive to. Know what touches him or her and make connection on that topic. Do this only if you can do it sincerely.
5 – Share unpaid
Only that sales which gives without receiving back will be received. Share your knowledge and let the other know what you can do for them. Don't desire anything in return.
6 – be transparent
Always be honest about what can and cannot. No is just as good an answer as yes. Don't leave your contact behind in confusion. If you have the answer please give it.
7 – measure your efforts
That what you do gets even more value when you measure what you do. Define your Key Performance indicators [KPIs] and keep them structural. So you know over time whether your efforts have effect and what they are worth
8 – book time
Stick to the reserved time. If you book two hours a week for new business and prospecting, you can stick to it. After two hours, also stop prospecting. As sales you have even more work to do.
9 – Care for budget
When your budget is available, you can think of actions to generate more business. Which give away can we let make? Can we organize an ad campaign for Linkedin?
10 – do it!
