NEW: LinkedIn Career advice

Since this week, LinkedIn has been rolling out career advice in the Netherlands. This new addition to LinkedIn allows users to request advice from professionals. Advice on a new step in your career or advice on a project you're working on.

Don't be fooled by the title. You can give more advice than just about career. As a user you share your knowledge with LinkedIn members and you will be matched according to your offer.

More and more we realize that the people in our network are becoming increasingly important. It's about who you know and who you know. Besides knowing it is even more important that you know what knowledge you own and where you can approach you. By sharing this knowledge, you add value to your relationship with the people in your first and second line network.

LinkedIn Valuable Network

Sharing knowledge is a form of mentorship. Besides the fact that you help others step in the next direction you will learn from it and it is valuable for your personal development.

More than 80% of the professionals on LinkedIn have stated that they want to have a mentor or a mentor for others. LinkedIn has therefore launched career Advice.

With career advice, LinkedIn's new feature allows members of the LinkedIn network to be linked to give advice and take on the mentor role. Whether you need advice on the next step in your career, want to make a switch to a new industry or want advice for a project you're working on: LinkedIn helps you with career advice to find and reach the right person.

Within career advice you have two options:

  • Give advice
  • Advice received

After you have signed up for the use of career advice, you can give advice to other members or submit a request to seek advice from professionals with the specific expertise you are looking for.

Give advice
When another LinkedIn member asks you for advice, you'll receive a LinkedIn message containing the advice they're looking for. You can accept the request by answering the message. In the Carriereadvies Hub you can view and respond to all open requests made to you.
