LinkedIn: no more access to email

It is possible that you no longer have access to an e-mail address. This is especially annoying when you use this address to log on to LinkedIn.

If you haven't been able to recover your password or if you can't access an email address linked to your account, LinkedIn can help you by verifying your identity.

To do this, they use LinkedIn technology that processes encrypted scans of your government-issued ID so they can help you get back to your account as quickly and securely as possible.

LinkedIn uses the ID information you provide only to verify who you are, and only stores it for a short period of time while your account issues are resolved. In general, scans and all associated personal information are permanently deleted within 14 days.

As a start, you will need the following:

  • A smartphone or computer with a webcam
  • Your driving licence, government-issued identity card or passport
  • An email address where LinkedIn can reach you
  • Access to a desktop/laptop

Follow the steps below on a computer/desktop:

  • As soon as you start the identity verification process, you will be asked to take a photo of your ID with your smartphone or webcam.
  • Enter the email address associated with your account so LinkedIn can find your account and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • On the next page, click "I do not have access to my e-mail address". First LinkedIn will ask for a new e-mail address. Then LinkedIn will ask to provide a valid passport or government ID.
  • After you have finished, LinkedIn will process your details and contact you to help you further.

Will you let me know when it's done?
